This article covers how to setup an Alternative Host for a Zoom meeting. For more information on what an Alternative Host can do, click here.
Zoom Portal
1) Log-in to the Zoom portal via the Okta dashboard.
2) In the left hand column, click on Meetings > Schedule a Meeting.
3) Proceed to enter the meeting information as desired.
4) Scroll down the page, you will see a field - Alternative Hosts. Enter the email address of the person/s you want to make an alternative host of that specific meeting.
5) When you are happy with the information entered, click Save.
Desktop Client
1) Open the Zoom Desktop client.
2) Click on Schedule.
3) When the Schedule Meeting window opens, enter details as needed.
4) Scroll towards the bottom of the window. When you see Advanced, click to expand the section to view available options.
5) When you are happy with the meeting settings, click Save.
Zoom Chrome Extension
Before using this method, first review the Zoom Chrome Extension article to see how to enable the "Allow me to specify schedule options each time". Once the setting is enabled continue with the steps below.
1) Open Google Calendar.
2) Begin to create an event. When the event details window opens. Click "Make it a Zoom Meeting". This will open the Zoom Scheduler window.
3) Enter / Amend the meeting settings as needed. Scroll down the window to set an Alternative Host. When done, click "Continue".
Limitations
- The alternative host can start the meeting using the join link in the email or calendar invite to them by the host. The meeting will not display in the upcoming meetings list in the desktop client or mobile app for alternative hosts.
- Alternative hosts can't schedule on behalf of the host. If you need to schedule a meeting on behalf of another user, scheduling privileges can be setup by the Tech Team. Please submit a ticket.
