This article covers the how to use the Windows 10 Weather and News feed widget.


The Weather widget by default is located towards the right-hand side of the taskbar.




Hovering over or clicking on the widget (depending on settings) will expand it into a news feed. Displaying articles which may be of interest to you.



It is possible to hide feeds which you do not want to see. To do this;

1) With the Weather / News feed widget open. Navigate to the tile you'd like to hide, click on the 3 horizontal dots, click on Hide this story.



You may want to see some news feeds more than others. In these scenarios, you can choose to see more stories like this or fewer stories like this To do this;


1) With the Weather / News feed widget open. Navigate to the tile you 'hide', click on the 3 horizontal dots, click on either More stories like this or Fewer stories like this.



Clicking on Manage interests will open the Microsoft Edge browser, navigating you to the My Interests page. Here you can view different categories of news which you are interested in. To add something to your news feed. Click on the + icon located to the right on the tile.



To pull the changes through. Refresh the widget by clicking on the refresh icon towards the top of the widget.



You can also change how the widget icon appears on the Taskbar. To do this, right click on the widget icon > News and interests.

By default, the widget is set to Show Icon and text. This can be changed so that only an icon of the current weather conditions is shown or nothing at all. Disabling Open on hover will make so you need to click on the icon to expand the feed. 

Reduce taskbar updates. Enabling Reduce taskbar updates will stop data consumption when using mobile data to connect to the internet.
